What is intermittent fasting?

It is a popular weight loss eating plan that is carried out by alternating periods ofeating and fasting in which you are allowed to consume only water, coffee and tea. During the eating time you can generally eat what you want which makes this diet system more doable for most people.
This fasting can be difficult for you if you are a person with a habit of munching every now and then or you take snacks throughout the day. This plan is made flexible as per individual that it will hardly be a clash in the structure of your day. it’s definitely not a good idea for anyone with a history of disordered eating or diabetes and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding to follow this diet. 

There are 7 types of IF

     1) 5:2 Fasting

This is the most popular method of all. The idea is to eat normal for 5 days and then the two days eat 500 or 600 calories a day, for women and men respectively. This method works for lot  of  people since there are no restrictions for 5 days in a week. 

     2) Time restricted fasting

          This type of fasting you will have to choose the eating window everyday ideally leaving a 14 to 16 hours of fasting period. 

     3) Overnight Fasting

This fasting involves a simple way of fasting for 12 hours per day. The benefit with this plan is its easy to implement. There will be no skip of meals. But this type doesnt help with weight loss like first 2 types since the window to eat is major part of the day hence the calorie consumption gets high unless you put the effort to keep it low. 

     4) Eat stop eat

In this you fast for 1 or two 24hours per week and also implement some exercise in to your lifestyle. 

     5) Alternate day fasting

In this method people fast every other day with just 25% of their everyday calorie intake on fasting days and normal eating on nonfasting days. This is also a popular approach for weight loss.

     6) Whole day fasting

In this people survive with just 1 meal in 24hours. Basically say you consume dinner today, then you dont eat anything until its tomorrow dinner time. 

     7) Choose your fasting day

Fasting in your own way. It can be 16hours of fasting and 8 hours of eating window or 14hours of fgasting and 10 hours of eating window. Just change it according to your own will but making sure it gives progress.
